Description: | INTRODUCTION With a thriving community of over 800 members, Helvetas and Textile Exchange are delighted to bring you the third “Face-to-Face” meeting of the Global Organic Cotton Community.Themes for this get-together include: Organic cotton market analysis and a look at new business models; what's being done about access to good quality non-GMO seed and the linked issue of contamination, and a presentation of the finding of research into "Bio-Intensification" a new area of interest for the organic cotton sector - and sustainable agriculture more generally. We look forward to seeing you in Istanbul for a hearty discussion and actionable outcomes! AGENDA 14:00 - 14:15 Welcome: Andrea Bischof, Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation, welcomes us and sets out the agenda for the day. 14:15 – 14:45 The Future of Organic Cotton: Why we need new models for building supply security and incentivizing production. Liesl Truscott, Textile Exchange, updates us on the work of the Organic Cotton Accelerator, giving us the latest in organic cotton market analysis and insights into exciting new areas of business development. 14:45 - 15:15 Seed Security and Managing Contamination: Discover the landscape of organic cotton seed production, issues and opportunities. Mans Lanting presents new research from a partnership between Lanting AgriConsulting, Louis Bolk Institute, and Textile Exchange. 15:15 - 15:45 The “Syprobio” Project: What can we learn about bio-intensification from new research by FiBL and Helvetas in Burkina Faso?
